Our College has organized a Faculty Learning Program on EVOLUTION OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES
for all faculty members on 23−12−2020. Mr. N. Vijayasarathi, AP/EEE particularized his Electric Vehicle (EV) drive system with the help of Power Electronics components such as Battery, Power Controller, Electric motor, onboard charger and Thermal management system. He explained the Battery Management System to manage the output, charging and discharging of the battery level. He also explained about PHEV, a hybrid electric vehicle whose battery can be recharged by plugging it into an external source of electric power, as well by its on−board Engine and Generator. for the MBA aspirants on 19.06.2020. Dr. B. Preethi, Assistant Professor, MBA, welcomed the guest and participants. Dr. A. Padmapriya, Associate Professor, MBA, introduced the Chief Guest Ms. S.Abinaya Shree. The Chief Guest elaborated the high demand and opportunities in various fields for the MBA aspirants in the current scenario. In this webinar, around 500 students and parents registered and 180 students participated and received E−certificates.

Campus Placement Preparation
The Department of Training & Placement organized a Webinar on Campus Placement Preparation
on 26th June 2020 for IIIrd Year BE & Ist Year MBA students. Mr.P.Anand Prabu, Training & Placement Officer, welcomed the
gathering & introduced the resource person. The session gave insights into the importance of preparation for campus interviews, the interview process, how to express and present oneself in the interviews & opportunities in various industries. The session proved to be fruitful for the students and
helped them prepare for the campus interviews.
The Women Empowerment Cell of Chettinad College of Engineering & Technology celebrated International Women's Day on 7th March 2020. A special programme was organized to emphasize on the need to respect women and protect them by creating awareness amongst the masses. Students were guided to practice the safety measures and also informed to convey the importance of following these guidelines to their parents, friends and neighbours. Mrs.R.Sripriya, Principal, Equitas Gurukul Hr.Secondary School, Karur, Advocate Mrs.K.Shakila Begum, Mrs. Amutha & Mrs.Muthrani, Women Police Constables and Mrs.Malarkodi were invited to inspire young women with their life experiences.
As per DOTE policies, Chettinad College of Engg. & Tech., Karur organized an Awareness Program on n-Corona Virus. Medical Team from Govt. Community Health Centre - PHC, Uppidamanagalam conveyed the precautionary activities to the students and staff members using audio-visuals in A-block Seminar Hall.37 Arts & Science Graduates took part in this programme. Medical team demonstrated the steps of washing hands to the students in the college campus. Students were guided to practice the safety measures and also informed to convey the importance of following these guidelines to their parents, friends and neighbours. The students attended the awareness program enthusiastically. Pamphlets were displayed on notice boards of all the departments.
The Physical Director Mr.P. Sivamuthu, presented the annual report and the winners were honored with Medals and Certificates.The Administrative Officer, Programme Co-ordinators and all the staff members made the necessary arrangements for the grand success of the event. Department of Management Studies organized TANCET coaching class for MBA aspirants. 37 Arts & Science Graduates took part in this programme. The first session was facilitated by Prof. Dr. S. Dharmalingam−MBA, on Quantitative Aptitude − to help students to prepare for aptitude tests that assess numerical reasoning. Students learnt how to interpret, analyze, and present numerical data with fast & short cut tricks. It was followed by a session by Mr.T. Vinu, AP/English on Verbal Ability and Mrs. S. Suguna, ASP/Maths on Statistics & probability. Students were given practice on how to solve questions related to Probability Distribution, Formulas, and Statistics. The session ended with Mr. M. Saravanakarthikeyan, AP/CSE who spoke on computers.
Chettinad College of Engineering & Technology, Karur, on 14th January, 2020 celebrated Pongal in the campus.The festival started off with Pongal making competition by each department which was followed by traditional games such as Rangoli, Pot Breaking (Uriyadi), Tug of War, Jute Bag Race, Lemon Spoon Race, Needle and Thread Race and Water Filling Game.Our students and staff members actively participated in all the games and the department of Mechanical Engineering won the price for the Best Pongal (Sweet Dish).Winners of all the events were presented with prizes by the Principal and Event Coordinators.
Do it yourself orientation programme was conducted for I yearstudents on 13.01.2020.The First year Mechanical engineering students were given an orientation on introduction to basic mechanical tools and its applications, mechanical motion for simple home machines, overview of pneumatics, industrial requirements &applications, overview of gear models and mechanical links, simple indexing mechanism and structure of gear models and fittings.The first year students of Civil Department were given an Orientation on Surveying & Applications of leveling in various fields, held on 13.01.2020.For First year CSE students, Database Management System technology hands - on session was conducted that created an awareness about latest database systems available in market.They were introduced about basic electronic components such as resistors, inductors, and capacitors. A practical session on identification of resistor based on color coding was also organized. A session was conducted on fire alarm circuit, water level indicator and Automatic Street light for the First year ECE Students.Students were also introduced to renewable and non-renewable energy resources,production of electricity from the generating station, real-time construction, working principle of alternator, motor, transformers working principle and measure the testing of variable electrical parameters, and electrical safety
A 1-day hands-on-training on Arduino was organized for the students of Government Polytechnic, Kaniyalampatti on 11.1.2020.The event was coordinated by Mr. P. Selvan AP/ECE & Mr. M. Kumar AP/ECE.A brief talk on Arduino programming and Proteus Software was attended by the students in the morning session.The afternoon session saw demonstrations on blinking led, traffic light controller and automatic street light controller.40 students participated in the program.
A 2-day Internship Training was given for the Final Year - B.E Mechanical Engineering students on 17.12.19 and 18.12.19 at Chettinad Cements Corporation limited, Puliyur..The students learned about the cement manufacturing process from procuring raw materials to packaging.
Final year Mechanical students were taken for an internship training at Chettinad International Coal Terminal Pvt Ltd in Ennore, Chennai from 16.12.2019 to 19.12.2019.They were trained on Vessel unloading, Control towers, Stacking and reclaiming, Loco engine workshop, Heavy equipment and transfer of coal from the ship to the departure terminal.
Third International Conference was organized in Chettinad College of Engineering & Technology.More than 61 Oral presentations and 104 poster presentations were presented by the participants in the field of Energy, Engineering and Bio-Medical Applications streams.Among them, 3 best oral and 3 poster presentations were awarded best presenters of ICAN-19. To be successful in their field, our Second year EEE students were taken on a visit to M/S.TANGEDCO, Karur on 13.12.19.The budding engineers gained knowledge in three-phase transformers and testing and maintenance of transformers and its connections.
Our second-year students from the Mechanical Engineering Department went on an Industrial visit to MAP ROTO PRINTS, Thanthonimalai, Karur on 13.12.2019.They got real-time insights in product manufacturing, internal working environment and printing techniques at MAP ROTO PRINTS.
Our students of II year - Electronics and Communication Engineering department were taken to Chettinad Cement Factory, Karikkali.Students gained valuable insights on the Cement manufacturing processes, Programmable Logic Device (PLC) and the machinary used for automation in cement manufacturing and quality check.They visited the raw material processing unit, which includes lime stone &clay, Rotatory Kiln Lobe and automated mixer sections.Finally, students had a discussion with the HR team.
Our Second Year - B.E Mechanical Engineering students were taken taken to Ashok Leyland on 11.12.19.The visit was useful to our students in terms of learning about various Engine parts, automobiles& Assembly works.
Chettinad College of Engineering & Technology gives utmost importance to Women's safety.In order to stress on the need for protective measures to safeguard women's rights and safety, an awareness program on KAVALAN SOS APP, was conducted for the students (girls) on 09.12.2019.Mr.Nagaraj, SI of Pasupathipalayam Police station, Mr.Shanmugasundaram, Inspector of Pasuthipathipalayam, Thanthonimalai & Vellianai police station and 3 Constables of Pasupathipalayam Police station, explained the usage of Kavalan app during emergencies such as physical emergencies, eve-teasing, kidnapping or natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, etc.

Jeyakrishna Srikanth, Senior Researcher, IIFPT made a presentation about the pre/post processes like Incubation etc. and also about the internship opportunities at IIFPT. A special orientation training programme "WHERE I AM GOING" was conducted for the First year B.E students by Mr.Antony Prakash, Senior Human Resource Manager, Chettinad Learning and Development (CLEAD)The programme was an eye-opener for the first year students on social skills, professional skills, life skills, communication skills and employability skills. The icebreaking activities made the students to feel at ease and made them understand and identify their innate skills they possess.Each activity was student-centric, professional and lively. This programme gave an opportunity for the students to gain overall view of engineering and academic studies. The tips given to improve communication skills were quite useful and practical.The cordial approach of the trainer made the students to participate enthusiastically with full vigor and the budding engineers have gained ample knowledge in their field. The orientation programme was useful and it helps the students to get streamlined and steered with positive energy.
